I am a licensed Cosmetologist and State Board Licensed Cosmetology Educator, and have trained in one on one settings and taught in the cosmetology classroom as the CORE teacher. She has been in the hair industry for 20+ years and have operated as a commissioned-based stylist, to an independent contractor as well as a salon business owner. I had the opportunity to be featured as one of the behind-the-scenes hair stylists for New York Fashion Week 2019. I am also a certified Professional Management Professional (PMP).
I believe hair stylists should be well-rounded individuals and receive continued mentorship as professionals. “Who mentors us?” "How do we handle our own attitudes?"" How do we better ourselves in handling disgruntle clients?" or "Is it better to operate as independent contractor versus a commissioned-based stylist?"" Are we displaying professionalism in our walk and talk?
I believe that hair stylists play an intricate part in building women's self confidence through the art of hair. "Unbeknownst to us, we have become counselors and therapist, and we try to give the best advice from our own life experience."
